Thank you for visiting the Two Spirit Health Board page. We appreciate your consideration for this important position.
We are very proud of our mission and the depth of service we have been able to provide to our community in our brief history, and as we continue growing, it is more important that ever that we have a dynamic board made of up of engaged community leaders.
Over its first three years, Two Spirit health has experienced tremendous growth that has not come without growing pains. We have had to rapidly expand staff, services, office space, and organizational procedures sometimes on the fly.
The Two Spirit board is currently chaired by Nayte Carrick, who has served on multiple non-profit boards including Habitat for Humanity, and MBA Orlando where he also served as President of the Board for the last year of his 8 year tenure. Over the past year he has been working to establish the infrastructure that we anticipate will help make the board successful and effective. The Two Spirit board should be made of a diverse cross section of the community we serve, people with a passion for serving and improving our local LGBT community, the experience to help guide and advise us as we grow, and the dedication show up when it counts.
WHAT’S EXPECTED OF YOU
As a governing board, the time commitments are much less than a working board, but are strategically very important to our growth. As a grant and operationally funded organization, the board is not required to donate, solicit donations for, or organize any large scale fundraisers. Though we are a health care organization, a background is not required.
We prefer applicants with either experience serving on a non-profit board, or solid knowledge of how non-profit boards work, though this is also not required.
BENEFITS OF SERVING
Serving on the Two Spirit board is a prestigious position at a rapidly growing organization that meets the needs of our community in a unique way. We are blessed to have the ability to include organizational participation and high level sponsorship with most major LGBT events and organizations in Central Florida, providing unique and intimate access to the community at large.
Additionally, to ensure the highest level of support for the organization by the board, training and mentorship by Rollins College’s renowned Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy and Nonprofit leadership on board development and facilitated board retreats. Through this partnership Two Spirit board members will be coached on good board member stewardship and educated on many aspects of board service.
