Ernest Strain – Counseling Student Intern:
Ernest is in the final year of his Masters curriculum in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Central Florida Counselor Education program. Ernest is also a member of H.E.A.R.T. (the HIV/AIDS Education, Advocacy, and Research Team) at UCF, where he is active in outreach and community education surrounding the experiences of those living with HIV. He has experience working with treatment of trauma, survivors of interpartner/domestic violence, HIV related concerns, as well as helping clients navigate LGBTQ+ related life experiences.
Ernest is one of the facilitators for the counseling and support group A.W.A.R.E. for young gay and bisexual men recently diagnosed with HIV. He works with clients to discover new elements of themselves, foster resiliency, and craft meaning from their experiences that they can use to face challenges and reach goals.
